Operating since 2016, Shevet Shahar runs Tzofim (scouts) activities in Hebrew for school aged children from years 3 to 12, giving them the taste of Israeli youth movement with its non-formal indoor and outdoor activities.
These activities are being held throughout the year by our experienced young coaches and leaders.
The indoor activities are being held on Sunday afternoon in Lindfield whilst the outdoor ones are being held in various locations and outlined in the table below.
Started off in 2015 with a small group of teenagers from all over the Sydney metro area. This group set the first ‘shachbag’ (senior year) undergoing a leadership course and sharing the goal of becoming the leaders of the new Shevet in Sydney.

Community Leadership

The activities of Ha'Tzofim strive to strengthen a solid connection to Israel for the Israeli- Australian youth and community.
All our activities run in Hebrew and embedded with Israeli culture and tradition, scouting, and leadership development. Ha'Tzofim Australia is passionate about connecting our members to their Israeli background and developing a strong Jewish-Israeli-Australian identity and Zionist affiliation in our youth.
Membership Enrolment and Information
Membership Shevet Onnot is the Melbourne branch of Israeli Scouts - being the first in Australia. Shevet Onnot was founded in 2014, when the first ‘shahbag’ (leading years, grades 10 to 12) was formed. In 2015, its doors opened to ‘chanichim’ (participants) grades 3 to 9.
We run weekly activities on Sunday afternoons, as well as summer and winter camps. Our activities are run in Hebrew, and center around Israel, the environment, leadership, friendship, current events, and community values.
